My March Make-up Bag ft Huda Beauty, YSL, Smashbox, Benefit and Jouer

Saturday, March 17, 2018

No matter what goes on in my life, what always makes me happy when I wake up in the morning is putting my make-up on. The one thing I really enjoy about the start of the day is putting on my moisturiser and then my foundation and then working on my eye make-up.

So each month I am challenging myself to really change up my make-up and the products I’m using and through doing this I’ve learnt new techniques, tried make-up which had been pushed to one side and rekindled my love for products I’ve ‘forgotten’ about. If you want to read my last blog post on my monthly make-up bag, you can check it out here. But for now, here’s what’s in my make-up bag this month…
Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water - £22 from Boots

If you’ve been a follower of my blog for a long time, you’ll know I love Smashbox products. I really think that the brand is underrated in the beauty blogging world and the products they create are some of the best quality make-up I’ve tried. As you can see from the photo, I’ve used quite a bit of this primer water and that’s because this product is a lifesaver. When I have no time to get ready in the morning this is what I use as a base for my foundation. It’s refreshing on your skin too (especially first thing in the morning!)
YSL All Hours Foundation in BD45 - £35 from Boots

I never understood why people had a ‘daytime’ foundation or an ‘evening’ foundation until now. I tried a sample of this foundation on a whim while out shopping with a friend. That sample then ended up lasting a week and when I realised I had enough Boots points accumulated to purchase this, I made the quickest purchase of my life! The next day this foundation came in the post and I’ve worn this everyday since.

I’ve spent so long ‘dreaming’ of achieving a flawless look and now I have realised it can just be down to one product. I have never received so many comments in regards to my skin and with 24 hour lasting power it’s perfect for everyday wear. However, one downside to this foundation is do not I repeat do not wear this when you’re going to the gym as it’s definitely not sweat proof!

I didn’t think that I could love a concealer as much as I do until I picked up this concealer. I am still very loyal to my Urban Decay NakedSkin Concealer in Medium Light Neutral but I fancied trying something new. When I wear my All Hours foundation and this together my face is literally FLAWLESS. I mean if that hasn’t persuaded you to add this concealer to your wish list I’m not sure what will…
One thing I don’t agree with make-up is the price rises that some brands have. I remember when I bought this eyebrow pencil originally it was £17.50. That is a BARGAIN in comparison to the price that it is now. However, saying that, this brow pencil does last a long time. I’ve used this consistently since the product launched and if you’re looking for a great brow product I’d recommend using this one.

I feel like a broken record mentioning this mascara because it seems as though every single beauty blogger is mentioning this.  However, after wearing this for a month now this is my favourite mascara, which benefit has created by far. I find that whether I’m at the gym, work, or just anything in between I don’t need to worry about how my mascara looks as it lasts literally ALL DAY. There are no annoying black mascara patches by the end of the day at all. It leaves my lashes looking volumised and lifted and I’ll be continuing to use this.

As you can probably tell by the state of the shadows, they are definitely well used. I bought this palette when Cult Beauty had a sale, way back before Christmas and there was about 20% (I think) off on site and it was SUCH a good purchase as the palette is only £25 in the first place. I find the colours in this palette SO wearable and easy to use and that the pigmentation is a dream. So if you’re looking for an amazing quality (but still affordable) palette, I’d head to Cult Beauty right now and pick this up.

When I first bought this from a Charlotte Tilbury counter before Christmas with my boyfriend I was surprised when the lady recommended ‘light’ as a colour for me as I thought she would say the darker shade due to my skin tone. However, she was completely right, the ‘light’ shade is perfect for my skin. What I love about this product is that 1, the packaging is incredible and rose gold and 2, that the products are such good quality too and plus who doesn’t feel like a sassy confident woman when they’re wearing Charlotte Tilbury?!

Jouer Long-Wear Lip Creme in Noisette - £15 from Cult Beauty
I still stand by what I said in my February beauty favourites post that this is the prettiest nude lipstick that I own and I absolutely love it. This lasts on my lips all day no matter how many cups of tea I drink. I’ll definitely be adding more Jouer lipsticks in my make-up collection.

What's in your make-up bag right now? Have you tried any of these products?
