Style Crush Update : Ashley Madekwe & Steal her style!

Saturday, December 29, 2012

If there's one actress' style I absolutely adore it's Ashley Madekwe. I first came across her through Elle.com and soon after Revenge appeared on our tv screens! Her style is so much like my own and I love how she wears heels day in day out!
Photobucketphotos credit to ringmybell

Recently her styles becoming more urban but still very feminine. I love how she's not afraid to team two unlikely items of clothing together and how she's not afraid to clash prints. She's a massive fan of shorts & skirts and I love her crazy obsession for shoes! Here are my style buy essentials if you want to achieve Ashley's look!
Photobucket 1 - Striped Top - H&M
2 - Hearts & Bows leather look skater skirt - ASOS
3 - Studded Lapel Biker Jacket - Topshop
4 - Bleach High Waist Hotpants - Topshop
5 - Sleeveless Zip Peplum Top - Topshop
6 - Rib Boyfriend Beanie - ASOS
7 - Stud Buckle Detail Ankle Boots - Daisy Street
8 - Sequin Stripe Shorts by Rare - Topshop
9 - Spike Bracelet - ASOS
Every piece on this wishlist I seem to own similar versions if not the same! I adore orange sequin shorts and bright red beanie! I think a leather jacket is an essential for any woman's wardrobe and so is a pair of denim shorts. A weakness of mine is striped tops and this 3/4 length one from H&M is gorgeous!
Which item is your favourite? Do you love Ashley's style to?

Models Own + Fearne Cotton Nail Art

Friday, December 28, 2012

I don't think I've ever done a post just about my nails. But after tweeting about wanting to get into beauty blogging I thought I'd give it a go! I'm always painting my nails and I always get comments of 'oh wow you've changed your nails again!' as I love experimenting with different textures, shades and nail art in general. I recently purchased Fearne Cottons Midnight Manicure set from Boots (that's £1 per nail polish!) and I thought I'd paint my nails!
Photobucket
I started with my NO7 base coat and then added Fearne Cotton nail polish in 'Fern green' to my nails. I love how this nail polish only need one coat and how it's such a strong colour!
Photobucket

I then added my favourite nail polish which is Models Own's Ibiza Mix which I've worn on top of all my plain nails for months and it looks amazing on top of any colour you put it on! I recommend using two coats of this polish for that extra sparkle!

Do you like these nails? Do you love nail art too?

Style Icons of 2012: Who is your favourite?

Thursday, December 27, 2012

2012 has been a big year for rising stars, especially within the fashion industry. We now don't just look to the latest pop star, girl band or hottest actress we have a look at the ones which aren't getting enough attention and these are the stars which are breaking the rules of fashion and really developing their own sense of style. I thought I'd do a collage to my favourite style icons of 2012 and maybe you'll be inspired by them too! (there's a few well known faces but also some new ones!)
Photobucket
1 - Rita Ora - is a British Singer-Songwriter who's released her debut album this year. You may recognise her from DJ Fresh's song 'Hot Right Now' or her massive hit which was 'How we do (Party)'. You may have also heard of her from her relationship with Rob Kardashian.

2 - Mary Kate Olsen - is an American actress, fashion designer and business woman. She also co-founded luxury fashion brand The Row with her twin sister Ashley Olsen. Mary Kate Olsen has been in our fashion magazines for years but her style is so inspiring!

3 - Bip Ling - Is an English fashion blogger. She writes Bip Ling.com and has appeared on the front cover of Company Magazine!

4 - Ashley Madekwe - Is an English born actress and fashion blogger. She's appeared in the Secret Diary of a call girl and is known for her most famous role which is Ashley Davenport in ABC Drama Series 'Revenge'. She's also a fellow fashion blogger and her blog is called Ring My Bell.

5 - Cara Delevigne - Is a British Fashion Model. She's currently the face of Burberry's beauty campaign and has modelled for Chanel and H&M. Most recently she won 'Model of the year 2012' at the British Fashion Awards.

6 - Fearne Cotton - Is an English television and radio presenter. She's best known for presenting BBC 1's red nose appeal and being on the panel for ITV2 show Celebrity Juice. Her style caught the fashion industry's attention many years ago and she also launched Very.co.uk with best friend Holly Willoughby. Which they both sell their own fashion lines on.

These women have all influenced/inspired me in some way this year and I'm always fascinated by what they are wearing. My style icon would have to be Ashley Madekwe as her style is so similar to my own and when I'm stuck with what to wear I love going on her fashion blog for that little bit of inspiration! I'm also addicted to watching Revenge and it's one of my favourite tv shows! (After Gossip Girl, FRIENDS & Big Bang Theory!)
Which of these women would be your style icon? Who's style are you inspired by?

Ways to wear: A Peplum Top

Saturday, December 22, 2012

Peplum Tops have been a massive trend this year. They're a great top to wear during the day and at night too. They are great for a casual look but also great for a smart look too. I have seen so many people wearing them to parties/nights out and I thought I'd do a post about other ways you could put your peplum top to good use or just give you some outfit inspiration!
Photobucket
Black Peplum Top - New Look
Treggings - Topshop
Gold Studded Vectras - Topshop

I really like this look I think it's great to go out for a meal with friends or for that special interview! Possibly even out clubbing with friends. It's quite simple look but it brings two of the biggest trends together this year, studs & peplum tops! These treggings are a great quirky way of updating your wardrobe!

Thursday, December 20, 2012

It seems to be that there's staple items in our wardrobe we thought we'd wear all the time but we never do. Now's time to relive them and start wearing them! I bought this denim shirt in March time and I've worn it a bit with leggings and skirts but I haven't worn it in a while. I love this denim jacket it's from Topshop and lately I'm getting really into styling and putting outfits together! (even more than ever!)
Photobucket Photobucket
I've layered this denim shirt with an old Boohoo gilet, white crop top and my new favourite chunky red scarf! When going outside I'll be putting my blue coat from Next on with a pair of trainers/ankle boots.
Photobucket Denim Shirt - Topshop
White Crop Top - Topshop
Red Scarf - Primark
Disco Pants - American Apparel @ ASOS
I'm loving experimenting with layering at the moment and wearing things I wouldn't normally pick out this time of year and reliving my crop top obsession from the summer by buying long sleeved crop tops and layering short sleeved ones!

I love this outfit! How would you layer a denim shirt?
