Birchbox 5th Anniversary Beauty Box Review

Sunday, June 17, 2018

Can you believe that Birchbox is 5 years old?! I really don’t know where time is going and this month; to celebrate their 5th birthday they have released a special edition, which is in collaboration with Whittards as who wouldn’t want to celebrate with a tea party? This month’s edition comes in a keepsake tin in a gorgeous blue and white floral pattern. Some of the brands which are featured in this months edition are Ella Eden, Benefit, Number 4, Polaar, Glamglow and of course, Whittard of Chelsea.

To my surprise when this month’s box arrived in the post I had a gorgeous cup and saucer (with my name on!) I squealed a little when I saw it… as well as a yummy biscuit to have with my cup of tea. I mean how cute is it?!

Ella Eden Compact Eyeshadow in Julia (Full Size, £12.99)
First up is a brand I’ve actually ever heard of before, Ella Eden. This is a gorgeous full size mineral eye shadow, which is really pigmented. I have the shade Julia which is a light mauve shade, which is suitable for all skin tones. I used this on top of a few darker shades which are in the Jacqueline Hill x Morphe palette and the eye shadow look which I created was so beautiful!

Benefit POREfessional Pearl Primer (sample size, full size £27.50)

When it comes to using products from Benefit, I only tend to branch into the eye brow departments as I know that Benefit do the BEST eyebrow products, so I have never tried out the POREfessional Pearl Primer before. This is a newer version of the original porefessional as it has a dose of pink pigment in for added brightness. I haven’t got a proper opinion on this yet so I’ll report back once I’ve used this a few more times!
Number 4 Jour d'automne Smoothing Balm (sample size, full size £24.50)

One thing I really love about Birchbox is the fact that you’re able to try out expensive hair products without spending a fortune. This soothing balm, in it’s full size is £25 which in my opinion, is a lot to spend on 1 hair product. This soothing balm is suitable for all hair types and it helps restore your hairs softness and minimises frizz and protects your hair from humidity so this is going to be an essential for me on my next holiday.
Polaar Velvety Sun Fluid Face & Body (sample size, full size £25)

Another reason to love beauty boxes is they end up preparing you for your holidays with all the miniature products, which are inside of them! So you can imagine my delight to find a sun cream based product in this month’s edition. This is a sunscreen, which doesn’t leave white residue behind. I tried a little bit of this on the bank of my hand and it sunk right into my skin which gets the thumbs up from me and it’ll be with me on my holiday this summer!

Glamglow Supercleanse (sample size, full size £24)
If there’s something that gives me heart palpitations it’s seeing a Glamglow product in a beauty box. This product from Glamglow is a cream to foam cleanser, which removes excess oils and absorbs impurities.  I am yet to try this product, so I’ll be reporting back once I have or it’ll be posted on my Instagram stories and you can follow me on Instagram here.

Last but not least there was an extra treat in this months edition which is of course is TEABAGS! I mean, Birchbox couldn’t have done a collaboration with Whittard of Chelsea and NOT include tea and safe to say these have been drunk since I took this photo! Their were 3 blends of tea inside which were Earl Grey, Mango & Bergamont and Lemon & Ginger.

So overall, I really loved this months box and I love how it’s come in a tin as that means there’s no packaging wastage in this month’s edition. I love the variety of products, which were included as well.

What do you think of this months box? Have you tried any of these products?
