Beauty: My Favourite Drugstore Highlighters (All Under £15!)

Wednesday, September 14, 2016

Highlighting has been one of the biggest make-up trends for a long time now and I think it’s going to continue to be a huge trend. Over the past year (or so) I’ve tested and tried out a few highlighters and being a drugstore girl at heart, I knew I had to collate all my favourite budget highlighters into one blog post.

Some of the brands with the best highlighters are L’Oreal, NYX, Maybelline and Barry M. They’re all super affordable as the most expensive is from NYX and you’re getting 7 pigmented highlighters for £15 which is my opinion is an absolute steal!

This is a palette is seem to reach for pretty regularly (especially when I have a little bit more time on my makeup). I absolutely love this highlighting palette and the shade on the bottom right is literally a dupe for theBalm’s Mary Lou Manizer highlighter. I love this palette for applying a light highlight to my make-up looks but I also use this palette to create super highlighted looks for an evening out.

This is the newest highlighter in my collection and this is in my ‘on the go’ make-up bag. At the moment I leave the house at 7.30am everyday to get to work and so I don’t have as long to get ready in the morning (as I love sleep too much!) and so this is so perfect for on the go make-up and it gives me a natural glow.

L'Oreal True Match Highlighters in Icy Glow and Golden Glow - (around £7 each)

My favourite highlighter from this bunch is the golden glow as I use this with my Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation for a dewy finish. I also use this on top of my cheekbones and blend this in with a beauty blender for a really natural highlight. I am literally obsessed with this liquid highlighter at the moment!

Barry M Illuminating Strobing Cream - £4.49 from Boots

Barry M has really upped its game lately and I am loving so many of their products. This is a highlighter, which I think doesn’t get enough credit in the beauty blogging world and it’s an absolute steal at only £4.49. This is a gorgeous champagne colour and it’s similar to the Maybelline strobing stick (but a little less pigmented) so it’s perfect for those of you who don’t like wearing too much make-up.

L'Oreal True Match Powder Highlighter in Golden Glow - (around £7)

This highlighter is a really great alternative for when you want a subtle glow. I love how these shades look on my skin tone and I think these shades will double up as great eye shadows too. I love using this powder highlighter as a highlight under my brows as I don’t want to go too heavy when highlighting that area.

What do you think of these highlighters? Have you tried any these highlighters or do you have any recommendations?

I've never seen the L'Oreal one before, but it looks so pretty and a bit more subtle. Much as I love a highlight, sometimes it's nice to have a more subtle one <3
