Popular Dress Codes and What They Mean

Tuesday, December 01, 2015

If you are heading out to an event or for a night out with friends, one of the things that you need to consider is the dress code that is required. While you won’t have a dress code for every place you go to, there are often occasions or venues where a dress code is put into place. If this is the case, you need to ensure that you are aware of what the dress code means so that you can pick the most appropriate outfit.

There are various dress codes that may be implemented depending on where you are going and what type of event you are attending. For instance, a black tie dress code may be in place for certain work functions, VIP weddings and events, and similar occasions. This is where the most appropriate attire for a man would be a tuxedo whereas for females it would be a stylish, elegant gown like the ones we often see female celebrities wearing at red carpet events.

A formal dress code is often in place for certain business events and formal daytime events. Men can simply opt for a smart suit with a shirt and tie to adhere to this dress code while women could choose something such as a tailored dress teamed with a pair of kitten heels, which look formal without looking over the top. The formal dress code is also often referred to as simply smart dress in many cases.

When it comes to a glamorous dress code, there is more flexibility as you can opt for anything from a cocktail dress to an elegant gown as a woman. For men, a black suit with a bow tie or standard tie is a safe bet. This is great for things such as cocktail parties or casino nights. You could even host a cocktail party at home and have everyone attend in glamorous attire to make it more exciting. Alternatively, you could host a casino night party at home and play the table games and online slots at places such as Betway casino with all of your guests dressed up in their most glamorous clothes as you serve up cocktails and finger food.

The smart casual look has become more popular over recent years and this is something that you will often be required to wear if you go to certain venues and clubs as well as more relaxed events. For this sort of outfit, men can pair something like smart jeans or chinos with a tailored shirt or a shirt and blazer without the need for a tie. Women can also opt for a favourite pair of trousers or smart jeans and then simply add a little pizzazz with a dressy top and some heels.
