Fashion Fanatics get Ready for Royal Ascot

Tuesday, June 16, 2015

With Royal Ascot 2015 now around the corner, many sporting and racing fans are getting excited at the prospect of being able to head to Berkshire and see the live racing at one of the world’s most famous racecourses. Attendees get to enjoy a vibrant and exciting atmosphere as well as the chance to have a flutter on the races as part of this unique and thrilling day.

However, it is not just sporting fans that are looking forward to heading to the Royal Ascot races but also fashion fanatics who are eager to see who’s wearing what at this year’s event. Royal Ascot is not only a centuries-old British institution but also something of a fashion extravaganza with men and women turning out in stunning outfits and hats. For many of those that head to Berkshire for Royal Ascot, the day is as much about enjoying the latest fashions as it is about watching the world class racing.

The more unusual fashions at Ascot

All sorts of fashions can be seen when you head to the Ascot Racecourse for the world famous racing. This includes not only the latest fashions and accessories, adorned by both men and women, but also some more unusual creations, which have really turned heads at this event as well as creating some controversy.

For example, at last year’s races the online bookies, Coral, teamed up with the talented designer Ben de Lisi in order to create something really unusual for the event. This was in the form of a dress that was created from two hundred Coral betting slips, resulting in a design and creation that captured the attention of attendees as well as the world media. The dress was modelled at the event by Kristina Rihanoff of Strictly Come Dancing fame and it created even more of a stir when Kristina was told she had to change because the dress was not in line with the Royal Ascot dress code.

Fashion fans will be able to feast their eyes on another creation from Coral and Ben de Lisi at this year’s races, as the designer has been brought on board again to create yet another fashion masterpiece. This time around, he has based his design on jockey’s silks and many will be eager to see what his creation looks like this year. Ben has stated that the design took around forty hours and that he used colour blocking in line with jockey’s silks in order to come up with the perfect outfit.
