10 Reasons I'm in exactly the right place right now

Ten reasons I'm in exactly the right place right now seemed like a hard thing to right about initially but after drafting ideas for the post it wasn't as hard as I first thought. I was recently contacted by Twinnings Infusions to write a post for there content hub on the Huffington Post  about 10 reasons I'm in exactly the right place right now.  So here we go!

1. I've had a few jobs since I was 15 years old and started this blog. I've worked on a curry stand at my local football stadium, freelanced for shoe e-tailers running there social media, I've also worked in retail for two big retailers.

2. Out of all my jobs I've learnt a lot and it's taught me a lot about what i'd like to do for a career. I really enjoyed working on the curry stand as every game was different and the customers always made me laugh. I really enjoyed working with bloggers during my time working for shoe e-tailers and running their social media pages but the job I probably enjoyed the most was retail.

3. I loved working in retail as it's very challenging. It was probably my worst paid job I've ever had but I learnt an awful lot from it. Retail has you working hard all the time whether it's customer service, merchandising, working on the tills, carrying clothes to and from places or dressing mannequins. I loved working in a team in retail and I am grateful to still be in contact with some of the people I worked with this time last year.

4.  Since working in retail I'm currently working part-time in Marketing. I spend my working days writing press releases, running the social media, interviewing for articles and designing banners and promotional materials.

5. I work as part of a bigger team now and it is challenging but it's an enjoyable job. Aswell as work in Marketing I also work a lot on this blog! For the first time in 4 years I've got time to blog more and focus on blogging and generate content for you guys!

6. One things for sure that working from home is not the easiest of things to do as It's hard to stay motivated. But I thought I'd finish this article with tips to staying motivated when you're working from home.

7. At first I thought working in your pyjamas can't be that bad right? But sooner enough I found it harder and harder to stay motivated and sometimes I still do. One thing I did do was build myself a workspace. An area which I could treat like an office. I use a desk in my  room with the latest magazines by the side of me, a few photos frames and a notebook. You might have seen my workspace in this post.

8. Get out more is another key thing. Whether it's popping to the shops for a restock on tea or going for a lunch date/dinner date catch up with friends. It's something I've struggled with for months but I'm getting a lot better at now as it's so easy to just sit working away at your desk as the hours just fly by and you wonder where the day has gone!

9. Finding a routine is the hardest thing i've had to do since working at home but it is easier the earlier you get up. Most days when I'm working from home I try and get out of bed and have breakfast by about 10am. I then sit replying to emails till about 12 (as there's always a lot) and then I start drafting blog post ideas, reading other blogs and take outfit photos before editing the photos, uploading them to Flickr and then writing the blog posts. I try and shut off by about 7pm which seems like a very long working day!

10. Shutting off is probably the most difficult thing. As a generation of the Internet and social media, it's hard to not check up on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram when you have a spare 5 minutes. I try and shut off by about 6/7pm but I'll probably still tweet through-out the evening!

I'd recommend being your own boss if you get the chance as it's a really different way to work. If you ever get the chance to do it it's worth giving a go. Being your own boss is a lot of hardwork, takes a lot of motivation and is sometimes very difficult.

So there we have it, 10 reasons why I'm in exactly the right place right now. I've worked in various jobs and have even spent time at university studying. I'm happy in what I'm doing right now but I can't wait to get back to university and start studying again in September!

Do you work from home? How do you stay motivated?

Sometimes I think I'd like to be my own boss and work at home for the flexibility... But I love coming into the office, seeing and chatting with every one throughout the day. I think I'd get so lonely and end up out everyday if i didn't. xx

This is a really interesting and helpful post. I would love to be my own boss. Although like you I currently work in retail and I actually really enjoy it.

Hi Becca

So nice to hear of someone who can say they are pleased with where they are. It's good to step back and take a look at your own success - it's easy to get wrapped up in FOMO syndrome!
